FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

What type of therapy do you offer?

All of our therapists are trained in a variety of therapeutic approaches that are evidence based. That means they are informed by a large body of research with evidence that is proven to be helpful and effective.

Together with your therapist, you will decide what approach works best for you, based on the concerns and goals that you bring forward. We will work with you to establish a therapeutic approach that is the most likely to help you to succeed in a timely manner.

How long are appointments?

We set aside an hour for each visit. Your therapist will spend 50 minutes of face to face contact with you, followed by 10 minutes of note taking.

What can I expect in my first appointment?

Your first appointment will be a “getting to know each other” session. The following will be covered:

1. Review your right to confidentiality (and limitations).

2. Review expectations for therapy (including the risks and benefits).

3. Gather information about yourself and your concerns.

4. Discuss what you would like to get out of your time with your therapist and talk about a plan moving forward.

How long does therapy last?

There is no set time frame for therapy. The amount of sessions that you have with your therapist will depend on the plan that is jointly established. Some may only require a few sessions while others may require more. Whatever the number of sessions, you and your therapist will work together to make sure that you feel good about concluding services when the time is right for you!

How can I make an appointment?

You can make an appointment through our scheduling page found here.

If you have any questions about the booking process, you can email us or call us at 519-567-9067.

How do you ensure my privacy?

Protecting your privacy is our utmost priority. Any identifying information that we gather about you is kept in a confidential file that only you and your therapist has access to (unless you ask us to share with a third party). Our therapists must follow the professional standards of their regulatory college regarding confidentiality at all times. This also includes the use of security measures for any records or correspondence that is kept electronically. You can read more about our privacy policy here.

Does my extended health insurance/benefits cover the cost of therapy?

Many healthcare benefits offered by employers cover the cost of therapy, either fully or partially. Many young adults still living at home and who are going to school are still covered under their parent’s insurance. Some students may also have insurance if they pay for insurance as part of their tuition fees. Most insurance companies require that you receive therapy from professionals with one of the following designations:

1. A registered psychotherapist who holds a master’s degree in counselling psychology.

2. A registered social worker who holds a master’s degree in social work.

3. A registered psychologist who holds a doctorate degree in psychology.

All of our therapists have a masters degree and are either a registered social worker or a registered psychotherapist.

It is highly recommended that you check with your insurance provider prior to your first session to confirm what type of professional designation your insurance covers.

What form of payment do you accept?

We accept payment by debit or credit card. After payment you will be provided a receipt for your insurance provider and/or tax purposes.

Do you do direct billing?

There are some insurance companies that allow direct billing. For an extensive list of the companies we direct bill with, click here. Although your insurance company may be on the list, it is important to check with the specific plan that your employer purchased, to ensure the specifics of what you are covered for before your first session.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

We do offer the option of virtual sessions to people residing in Windsor-Essex who are not able to travel to our space.

If you would like to receive your therapy virtually, you can call us at 519-567-9067 to make this request after booking your first appointment.
